Press Release | LEGACY MOTOR CLUB
STATESVILLE, N.C. (November 19, 2024) -- LEGACY MOTOR CLUB today named Travis Mack as a crew chief of the No. 42 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB entry with driver John Hunter Nemechek. Mack joins Ben Beshore in the crew chief department as the CLUB continues forging forward in its competition realignment.
Mack, 41, has experienced success at all levels of motorsports. The Louisville, Ky., native began his career with Frank Kimmel's ARCA team Clement Racing, winning three championships before joining Hendrick Motorsports in 2004 as a shock specialist and front-end mechanic.
From there, he worked his way up to a car chief role at Hendrick Motorsports for Dale Earnhardt, Jr., with the No. 88 team. He served as interim crew chief for Earnhardt, Jr., for one race. Mack worked with Kasey Kahne at Leavine Racing and then held crew chief roles at JR Motorsports, Trackhouse Racing and Kaulig Racing, where he most recently served as the team’s technical director and crew chief for road racing sensation Shane van Gisbergen.
Mack’s record in the NASCAR Cup Series has shown success, as he has one win at NASCAR’s elite level with Daniel Suarez in 2022. Overall, Mack has called 156 races at the Cup level, earning one win, 11 top five and 31 top 10 finishes including two pole positions.
“I’m looking forward to helping LEGACY MOTOR CLUB build something great,” said Mack. “There are a lot of talented people here at LEGACY M.C. I worked with Jimmie (Johnson) at Hendrick Motorsports, and I know his work ethic and determination – so his vision for the CLUB is really exciting, and I’m ready to get to work.”
“Travis is a welcome addition to LEGACY MOTOR CLUB,” said Canter, SVP - Sporting Director for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB. “As we continue to make changes and evolve on the competition side, the goal is to place the right people in the right places. That will take some time, but we are thrilled to have a talent like Travis on board and can’t wait to see what he, Ben and the rest of the engineering team can accomplish over this short off-season.”
Mack will assume the position of crew chief effective immediately.
