This morning, Freedom Racing Enterprises announced that ARCA Menards Series driver Ryan Roulette would be piloting their No. 67 Truck for three races in 2025.  We had a chance to catch up with Ryan and ask him about his new venture.

“We’ve been working on this deal for upward of five months now.  It finally came together this week and we’re excited to make that big announcement,” a smiling Ryan Roulette said in a conversation with Racing Refresh.

While he wasn’t able to expand and announce which races he will be doing with FRE, he did confirm that it is slated to be three over the course of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule.

Being a driver without a big funding background, Roulette found some shared values with Freedom Racing Enterprises' co-owner and fellow driver, Spencer Boyd.

“He knows what it’s like to grind.  He doesn’t come from a background that is heavily funded. He knows exactly what I’m going through, and he’s experienced what I’m going through, so having him on my side […] allowed me to work something that made sense for both of us overall, to grow FRE and make it an even better team for 2025.”

“I’m pumped to get out there and rip with this team!”

Ryan Roulette grew up as a NASCAR fan watching his favourite driver, Rusty Wallace, each weekend.

“I didn’t grow up in a racing family, I grew up in a spectator family,” he said.  In high school, he got the opportunity to help out a friend’s father’s sprint car team, and the rest is history.

“I started in racing, scraping mud off of tires.  Here I am a few years later, out on the big track.”

While he started his driving career as a dirt racer, he crossed over to asphalt racing six years ago.  Jokingly, he added, “I’ll be honest, for the longest time I used to say that asphalt is for getting to the race track, and dirt is for racing.  Once I made that transition, I’ve never really looked back.”

Roulette’s part-time Craftsman Truck Series schedule will compliment his planned six-to-seven races in the ARCA Menards Series as well.  “I have announced that we’ll be going to Daytona here real soon, so I’m pretty pumped about that.”

He talked about the excitement of racing with some fairly big names this season.  Mentioning names like Helio Castroneves, Katherine Legge, and Cleetus McFarland, Roulette is expecting the competition to be fierce.

“There’s going to be some real unique talent out there, and I think it’s going to put a lot of eyes on ARCA, and I think it’s going to be good for the sport overall.  […] As much as I’m excited to go out there and race with them, I’m hoping to smoke ‘em! Should be a fun race though.”

On top of all of this, Ryan Roulette is currently an active duty military member, who flies planes for a living.  It’s this connection that led to a partnership with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) which will be on both his car and truck this season.

“The VFW of 2025 is not your grand-daddy’s VFW.  It has changed significantly in a good way, and I really hope that what we’re doing out on the track is showing that to people and getting more veterans involved in the organization.”
