Ahead of the Bass Pro Shops Night Race, Bristol Motor Speedway announced that the Food City Bristol Dirt Race in 2024 will be returning to the normal concrete surface.
Bristol has hosted two dates on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule since it opened in 1961. In 2021, they converted their spring date into a dirt race by covering the track with sawdust and over 23,000 cubic yards of dirt.
The inaugural Bristol Dirt race was won by Joey Logano in 2021, followed by Kyle Busch the following year. Christopher Bell rounded out the winners by taking the checkered flag earlier this year.
It seems the NASCAR Cup Series dirt experiment is over, for now. Bristol Motor Speedway announced on their X (formerly known as Twitter) account on Friday morning that the two Cup Series dates would both be on concrete starting in 2024.
The finalized NASCAR Cup Schedule has not been released yet, so dates are still subject to change.
